[Breaking News] iPhone will be officially available in Nigeria, we say… Welcome!
iPhone, the revolutionary phone launched by Apple in 2007 is coming to Nigeria officially! Well, some may say, it is rather late the never. After making billions of dollars from the phone around the world, Apple now sees Nigeria as a viable market for the esteemed product.
For the past couple of months we have been sniffing around for a possibility of the phone being made available in Nigeria. We got an insider scoop from a reliable source, and we can confirm it! YES! The phone is expected to be available for sale on multiple networks. Between now and first quarter of 2011, you should expect the buzz!
Before now, the phone is available in these African countries except for Africa’s largest telecom market (Shame? Business?, I…i don’t know!);
- Cameroun
- Centre Afrique
- Côte d’Ivoire
- Egypt
- Guinea-Bissau
- Guinée
- Guinée Equatoriale
- Kenya
- Madagascar
- Mali
- Mauritius
- Niger
- Sénégal
- South Africa
- Tunisia
- Uganda
Some of the questions that now come to mind are;
- Is iPhone coming into one of the world largest telecoms market too late?
- Can iPhone battle the Blackberry craze in the country?
- How will this impact (the expected) growing impact of Android in Nigeria
- What does this mean for Nokia N8?
What do you think?

Yes the biggest question is; can iPhone compete with the present rush to BlackBerry?
I tink nigerians are really dynamic consumers. lets just watch and see how they will switch from the BB craze.
Yea, we really can't predict for now!
Well i think iphone may bet BB for it within few months owning to the fact that it is easier to develop APPs for iphone than BB from a personal experience as a software developer. Local APPs can easily been developed and this can make mobile communication interesting
i have a feeling that the apple i phone will beat the bb's hand down cus of application lists and come to thinking installing jail-broken applications is now legal now i see no reason why it wont sell like craze in the Nigerian market let's just wait and see
Let's see how it plays out.
