Looking at how things are unfolding in Nigeria web industry, we are approaching “mainstream” kind of, this is a new and creative way to get you connected to the entertainment world seamlessly. Imaging buying ticket to any of the popular cinemas in Nigeria? That is one of the major values set to be unloaded by Kilonshele.com.

You may want to ask what the word “Kilonshele” means, the word is a Yoruba word which simply means “what’s up?” or “what is happening?”.

A New Deal?

Yea! In recent years, Nigerian Cinema industry resuscitated with the advent of Numetro, Silverbird  and others, giving people another option of entertainment from the usual fast food, beach and sitcoms. As the Nigerian web industry evolves so are ideas and better ways to do things, this is a game starter as its set to open a new chapter in the Nigeria entertainment industry. Looking at their official statement; “…We connect the world to live entertainment events in Nigeria by providing up-to-date information on live events and giving fans opportunity to buy tickets conveniently…” A good pitch I must say!

The Real Deal

Now what’s the deal about? How will it serve you?

  • Online ticketing: you can now buy your tickets online via a secure web platform, giving you access to do adequate planning for your weekend without a rush. No more sold out events!
  • Connect with Live events: Well, I hope to see how this will pan out. Is it going to be video streaming? Twitter or text? Anyhow it is you can always get connected.
  • It also promised to send email and SMS alerts of your favourite artist/comedian shows, hot movie in town and things of interest to you.
  • The events listed also provide means for you purchase ticked right away!
  • Events and tickets are available across Nigeria.

The challenge

The site design is aesthetic and cool! As a trends setter, the site will need to create a standard worth competing for. As always popularity is of great importance, and the bunch of it will happen on the launch date.

Technicality: I think a review needs to be done to the customer area so as to give accurate personal data. (I have some reservations there).

Talking about money now, holistic approach needs to be done to the billing process as more Nigeria are yet to master online payment and trust them as well.

Business Model

The model employed buy this site includes; Advertisement and Infomediary, making money off ticket sold and from attention generated.

Have a similar site, idea? “Ki lo n she le?”

Are You Person 2.0 Compatible?

Today we will be discussing personal branding to help everyone
willing to thrive during and beyond this hard time. Much as been discussed
about web 2.0, eGoverment 2.0, Enterprise 2.0 and less is being discussed about
the people who use these platforms everyday; those who make it happen.

Person 2.0 or personal branding could simply be defined as
your ability to use web technology to stand out on the internet. It involves
your ability to tell your story yourself. Telling people what you are capable
of doing, what you have achieved and how you can help them. This creates an
instant connection between you and your prospective client.

In the last edition of our magazine, we discussed defining your personal brand in the personal branding section. How do you stand out on the internet? In your niche, how quickly can people get to know/discover you? That is why it’s very important that you are 2.0 compatible.

How to be person 2.0 compatible

Achieving anything is first based on knowing what you want
and working towards it. So, before you can embark on the journey towards person
2.0, you need to do the following;

  • Identify what your expertise are
  • Define your goal
  • Define your audience
  • Identify where your audience are, and engage them there
  • Know their problems
  • Provide timely solution

After you have done the above, you now need to package your message for easy discovery. You need to take the Google exercise, by Googling yourself up on the Google search engine.

Example: if your full name is Possicon, if I google this name will your name come out in the first result page?

You could have people bearing same name with you; some might have good reputation or have achieved more than you do, so their name could come out in the result. How do you control the Google result? That is the main idea behind being person 2.0 compatible.

Making it happen

First of all you need to create your personal website, which must tally we your brand name. Your brand name could be your full name like Dan Schawbel, or could be a nick name like Possicon. This will compel Google to look for your web address before looking elsewhere for the term. So today, call you registrar and register your brand name.

Secondly, you need to register with various social networking sites, e.g Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and Flickr.  Facebook gives you access to over 150 million people while Linkedin link you up with other business people and enable you to organize your profile in a resume type. With well organized standard, people can easily discover you. As you grow up your brand, you need to structure your profile to bring about consistency in the message you pass across to people. Also by having account on these sites, your brand name could quickly be discovered because these sites are well ranked by Google.

Thirdly, you need to do a daily audit to check if your name is being discovered on Google. Search for your name, search for your expertise and see if information about you is displayed. With that you can easily see which of the platforms you employ is actually working your plan then structure it accordingly.

Interact with the community; people won’t know what you are capable of doing until you put it forward. The only  people who know you are people who have worked with you. Help them solve problems, give them helpful links, comment on what they say. Just interacting! You also need to put it at the back of your mind that, the way you present yourself will ultimate be how people will respond to you. So be professional in your interaction with them.
You never can tell who will bring in your next deal.

Synchronize your network; you need to integrate your profile to make managing them easier with less hassle. You can use FriendFeed to get that done. It’s advisable that you link all your networks to the most active profile of yours.
We recommend that this be your personal website. You have more control there and you can make things happen.

With the above, I think you can kick start the process of becoming a person 2.0 to help your career and reputation.

Create a social bond, to develop brand loyalty

social-bondsLike I discuss in my blog post: “Trust economy: creating a ready made market for your products and services” it’s a must for tech, entertain, telecom, banking and other firms to create an effective social bond for their clients/customers. This will go a long way to bring about brand loyalty, easier promotion of new products & services and good customer relations. Most customers already make use of various social media platform, as an organization you need to go where your customers are, to reinforce your brand and make it sink in their subconscious. These platforms are proven to build relationship across the board. Information about brands are being shared amongst clients/customers easily. User joins groups created by their service providers and other interest groups. Therefore creating an effective strategy to leverage on this platform can take your brand to the next level.

Follow below steps religiously to leapfrog your brand;

  1. Create an engagement platform on your official website: these include official blogs, forum, news, and comment (feedback). This will allow you to hear what your customers are saying and also enables you to give out authentic information about your products and services. All other platform you want to use to promote your brand must be linked to website.
  2. Listening tools around the net: as you communicate with your clients, you must also track what they are saying about you elsewhere. Google your brand name, Search forums, Search twitter, scout Facebook groups to see what people are saying about you.
  3. Create groups on Facebook, LinkedIn; Facebook currently have about 223,540 Nigerians registered. You can link to your customers/clients who are already on Facebook. Also create a Facebook ads to direct people to your Facebook group and your website.
  4. Place free ads on Nairalist.com: you either take it or leave, if your business is based in Nigeria, this free classified ads site is awesome. Less than a month launch it has grew to become one of the top hundred sites in Nigeria. Remember your brand must be persistent, it must be visible in your industry, that is why you must put all effort to make it be.
  5. Get Dedicate Social Platform Manager: a social platform manager is someone dedicated by your organization to take care of your various social media platform. This person should know about your product and services, have experience or know how all this platform works. This person will make sure that all enquiries and comments are responded to. Some might drop a negative comment which probably are not fact, you ability to clarify the issue will make it news abort before it moves around the web.
  6. Design Response Mechanism: response mechanism is the way you respond to whatever people say about you/your brand online. You need to know that positive and negative comments will come from your visitors. How do you respond in a positive manner? What sense can you make from the comment? How objective is the comment? Is it really true? How many people are saying/believe same thing. You need to verify all these before you response to the comment. Always respond politely.

The world is going toward customer driven brand-persistence, the earlier you bond with your customer the better. To make your advertisement spending effective, your customer bond will go along way to determine that. Their comments, whether positive or negative will have effect in your business.

Am sure you have experience or challenges with how this media works, let rub minds share your experience in the comment section below.
