Mobile Payment on the rise, Kenya and SA where is Nigeria

This post is a food for thought for my fellow technologist from Nigeria. Mobile Payment on the rise, Kenya and SA where is Nigeria?

Nigeria currently have more than 75million mobile phone users and no single viable mobile payment system to drive m-commerce in the country. I want to believe we have creative developers, sound investors and a ready market for the product but what is happening?

Our market will grow faster if people can pay for services as fast as they think about it! What should we do?

Happy Birthday Possicon

Kind of ironic? Well today is my birthday. I thank God for the journey so far and the possibilities ahead. I thank my parent for the grooming I got and the opportunity to choose what I wanted for my life. I also thank you guys for the support and encouragement in the tough terrain of ours,  I love you all.

I believe and trust God that we shall get there earlier than our widest imagination. With our courage and focus I believe the future is bright for this country.

As I ponder and review my life towards the future, I find myself and my dreams much attached with Nigeria because of our current state. I also believe that, my journey is nothing but a quest to add value to the Nigeria project and the world at large.

Thank you all.

Nigerian Web Conference

I see an improved awareness of the Nigerian Internet Market this year with many events, conferences and seminars. One of it is the: Nigerian Tecnology outlook 2010 while another one recently announced is Nigerian Web Conference which is schedule to hold in June 2010.

The aim “It is an avenue for web developers to learn new skills, collaborate and network, compete and showcase their skills/products, relax and have fun.

The idea was initiated on Nairaland.com’s Webmasters’ segment by Segun Abisagbo (aka Segebee, webguru handle on Nairaland).

Top organizers includes: Dual Core, Naijaweb and a host of others.

This conference also says it will focus on students,(Secondary & University) to expose them to web technology.

As the event is still in its planning stage, sponsors and partners are needed to make it successful.
