Cybercrime and Cyber Wealth for Nigerians: Maga no need pay

Maga-No-Need-Pay

wants to be rich no doubt or put another way everyone want to be comfortable, eat what they like when they want, buy clothes they like, and be able to afford whatever they want without going through extreme pain.

Cybercrime: Maga no need pay

The initiative was driven by notable young Nigerians to stop the menace of cybercrime in Nigeria, supported by Microsoft and many other sponsors. The music featured top Nigerian artiste.

I got the video copies and went round cyber café to distribute, I got talking with some “Yahoo Yahoo” guys; first most of them liked the music, “the production was classic” they said. Many grabbed the CDs and in no time it was exhausted. Now, they looked at the artiste especially MI and Banky W, one said… “en en… iwo na wanbe?” (oh! You guys too support this?) Another one said, you guys are sitting on money, you now ask me to stop “abi”? Some of their frustrations are that, they don’t have viable alternatives or some simply said, “who go give me job?” A guy whisper into my ears, “bros, me na artiste… I get music I no get money to take push am, man must survive now?” I said yes, indeed you must but how far have you gone to express your talent? He showed me his works and plans that he have… I was thrilled and I believe the guy will go places. The question now is, should he continue “Yahoo Yahoo” till he gets a break in his music business? Certainly not! So, guy “wetin you come need now?” I asked; He said, “I no get website for my music, I never get correct office, I need money to push my music….” Then I responded; on my side, any particular one I can offer to support you, I will, just stay focused, you are talented!

Cyber Wealth Delivered

The internet is the biggest factory where billionaires are being made. The recent BBC (sourced from Forbes’) list of top internet billionaires attested to this. In Nigeria and Africa, this is possible, but we should be conscious of the fact that none of these billionaires are recognized because they do “Yahoo Yahoo” but because they take positive side of the internet wealth. Do you want to become a billionaire? Check it out, the people on this list are not “Yahoo” guys, so why not follow their footsteps?

What can we do?

First of all, one thing is missing; VALUE! We need to ring home the point of value in every aspect of our lives. A yahoo guy approached me sometime ago that I should teach him how to build website, then I questioned him on his dream and plan towards it; He said, he want to be able to build bank (phishing) site! Surprise isn’t ? Not quite… but the meaning is that value is missing! You are either cunny or savvy! We need to drive home this point before we try to train them on competence, because the more they know how to use the tools (without value) the more catastrophic will the damage they will cost.

Key areas we should also focus on

  • Computer hardware engineering
  • Software engineering
  • Mobile technology
  • Web design and development
  • Internet business and marketing
  • Entrepreneurship
  • … and many others (you name them)

Quite a number of people in Nigeria are already empowering others with these computer competencies. I’ll urge everyone of us, as we aspire to grow, to not leave out our brothers that are is search of the “Nigerian Internet Goldmine”, Light up the light and brighten their days anyway you can, their fall is the failure of us collectively because we are all Nigerians!

You can watch the video on youtube here or Visit the official MISSPIN project home page here. The music is now on the airwave across the country. Our follow-up to this is key to our success… let’s do it together.
