This paper is written to point out the challenges of the Nigerian web industry, and also outlined the potential of the market with steps on how to realize the potential. Looking into how the Nigerian web industry has evolved the current market structure and potential of each of the segment.

This paper is targeted at web professionals, industry analyst, marketers and investors. It is expected to call attention of the stakeholders in the web industry to look at their business, see the future and how they can get there from here. It is also meant to be a thought starter, so as to enable engagement between the stakeholders to chart the future together.

Collaboration and competition are two things that have shaped the development of economies and industries around the world; we looked into how to make it work in the Nigerian web industry. Stressing the need to collaborate to joint build the industry and compete to develop it.

Challenges highlighted includes the need to have a knowledgeable consumer market, skilled and competent developer and funding, while some of the potential includes, the growing internet market, the yet to be found a truly Nigerian site, and the potential of each of the segments of the internet market.

To make all this happen, the need for funding, business know-how and technological development have to be given adequate attention. The search for the truly Nigerian site has just begun; take your place before the global giants get attention of the Nigerian internet market.
