Digital Sense Forum; Internet Governance: Creating Opportunities for All Nigerians

Posted: 02, Oct 2009 by Possicon

To be organized by REMNEK Kommunications Ventures, is a forum put to gather for stakeholders in the internet community to discuss the future of internet in Nigeria. While the event will serve as a “common voice gathering” on issues to be discussed at the coming Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Egypt. This will enable Nigerians to voice their opinion, raise and discuss issue as it affects Nigeria.

Being the first of its kind, the platform will continue to be a platform for Nigerian Internet community to engage themselves and debate on the way forward. Other African countries have organized forums like this. Kenya recently concluded its forum with title: Advancing the Internet Governance Debate in East Africa: “Thinking Globally; Acting Locally”.

As we look forward to attending this event, we would like to recognize the momentum being gathered by the development in the Nigerian Internet community so far. This event will be the third to be held specifically for Internet. The first was Barcamp Nigeria (April 25), Internet Marketers Association of Nigeria (IMAN), and now Internet Governance. Unfortunately, Mr. Ndukwe Kalu (The president, Nigeria Internet Registration Association) who was present at the IMAN event is now late. He died last month (September 8). We hope that his legacy will live on!

The event is also going to hold an expo for the Internet Service Providers (ISP) to showcase their products and services for the Internet Community.

If you are an internet business person; Marketer, Developer and analyst. I do advice that you come around to join in the making of Nigeria Internet Community with common voice.
