Most Visited Nigerian Sites for August: Punchng.com continues it downward trend
Welcome again to our monthly ranking of most visited Nigerian sites. Incase you are new here, this ranking is based on Alexa ranking service. Also these sites are Sites owned by Nigerians hence we do not take into consideration ranking for site owned by a non-Nigerian.
A point to note, punchng.com a leading tabloid site in Nigeria recently turned it site to a pay-service which has to a large extends affected its rating since last month. This month the slide continues as it dropped 16 places overall and 4 places amongst Nigerian sites.
Highest mover for the month is zenithbank.com moving a whopping 36 places overall and 13 places in Nigeria. The punch dilemma has given a rise to some almost obscure news site room to rise up the ladder, tribune.com.ng which has never featured on our top sites until last month has finally established itself a site to recon with, moving 9 places in Nigeria and 29 places overall. Naijahotjobs.com which toppled Nairaland.com in our April ranking has also re-established itself, playing around the 3-4th places since May. It’s still very interesting to note that News site remains the most traffic sites after Nairaland.com with five News sites among the top ten sites. Nairalist.com also rebounded having spent couple of months outside the top 20. Flyaero.com an airline company made it to our list first time ever, this I believe is connected with their current promo. Their promo which flies to parts of Nigeria for as low as 5000 Naira and their online booking and payment gave room for its rise. Interswitch.com, a foremost e-payment company also made it to our list this month, this is large influenced by the growth of sites using its payment platform. Sites like; flyaero.com,arikair.com and a host of others.
On the down side, nigeriamasterweb.com which was 20th last month slipped a place to drop off the top 20 sites. While naijaecash.com which shot to 12th place last month dropped 10 places to 22 this month. Well I guess this is affected by the recent cut-off of Nigeria internet from the SAT-3. The biggest hit sites by this downtime are naijaecash.com, 234next.com, nigeriaworld.com and buyright.biz.
Overall about 6 new sites made it to our list this month, zenithbankg.com is the highest mover while 234next.com and naijaecash.com tops the highest drop.
