So much has happen and we are glad to be part of the making the Nigerian Internet Industry valuable.
Nigerian Web Awards continues…
The Nigerian Web Awards nomination which commenced on the 21st of December 2009 is still on. Nominate your favourite web, people and company. You can nominate as many times as possible from any category of your choice.
I see an improved awareness of the Nigerian Internet Market this year with many events, conferences and seminars. One of it is the: Nigerian Technology outlook 2010 while another one recently announced is Nigerian Web Conference which is schedule to hold in June 2010.
Nigerian Websites of Interest Part 2
Last year I wrote about Nigerian site of interest here, it received additional sites and I want to believe their are many more Nigerian site that I or anyone is yet to know. This time around I will base the site on consistency, functionality and usability. I have my personal picks based on my experience though, so if you have one, kindly drop them below as we compile the list.

Google is releasing information about a “highly sophisticated and targeted attack” on their corporate infrastructure that occurred last month. The attack originated in China and resulted in the “theft of intellectual property from Google.” In light of the attack Google is making sweeping changes to its Chinese operations.

East African Mobile Communication market to reach $9 billion in 2015
The mobile communications markets of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, earned revenues of $2.62 billion in 2008 combined and are expected to deliver $8.99 billion in 2015, following the availability of cheaper handsets and network investments in this region, says a recent study compiled by Frost & Sullivan.
Egypt to enhance broadband in northern Africa
Telecom Egypt, which early last two weeks announced that it had assumed total control of its subsidiary TE Data, said the move would enhance the growth of the broadband industry in the North African country.
Internet usage in SA to grow by 15% in 2010
South African Internet users exceeded the five million mark for the first time, accounting now for 10% of Internet penetration in the country, says a study conducted by World Wide Worx and jointly sponsored by Cisco.
Theme set for e-Governance Africa Forum
The theme for this year’s e-Governance Africa Forum has been set. Organizers, the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO), said the event will be held under the theme “Effective Governance, transparent public services and citizen empowerment through Information and Communication Technologies”.
The event, aimed at facilitating and promoting information and communications technology development through knowledge-sharing events, is scheduled for Maputo, Mozambique, from 23 to 25 March.

“Nigeria Reads” from Zinox Computers is inspired by the company’s exclusive affiliation to the World e-Books Library, which gives this nation direct access to over 750,000 e-books and documents embedded in every Zinox Computer and enabled by a Zinox e-Card, renewable annually at a subsidized rate of N5,000 only.
Social networking tool launched in support of MWC
Organizers of this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) have introduced a new social networking tool aimed at enhancing the event and expanding delegates’ networking connections.
They introduced App Planet, a new “event within an event” focusing on mobile application developers, which will be held at MWC.
The Mobile World Congress, which will draw delegates from the continent, is scheduled for Barcelona, Spain, form 15-18 February.
