Western Union Now requires you to have a bank account to recieve payment in Nigeria

Western Union Money transfer is a widely available international money transfer used in Nigeria. You can receive money from anywhere in the world by simply walking into a participating bank with your international passport or national ID.

I am just confirming right now that before you can receive money through Western Union you MUST have an account with any of the participating banks.

Just confirmed from GTBank (in Abuja) that you need to be an account holder to receive #WesternUnion payouts. Anywhere else? @gtbankonlineless than a minute ago via ÜberTwitter

CBN was set to have issued the directive recently. While GTbank and UBA have confirmed this, I want to know if other banks have done same. The issue now is, how will CBN monitor compliance to this policy?

@gbengasesan @gtbankonline True. This also happened to me at UBA. Either have an account or get someone that can identify u personally.less than a minute ago via web

Do you think this directive will further reduce Cybercrime? Will it ease customers? Will banks (staffs) comply with this directive?
